Vintage Seiko chronograph 6138-8030, manufactured August 1976. Nicknamed the "John Player Special" by collectors due to its black and gold color scheme reminiscent of the iconic Lotus Formula 1 livery, the piece is a highly sought-after vintage chronograph from the mid-1970s. Running well, including full chrono function and set back to the 12 position.
Japan made, this distinctive piece features a cushion-shaped case with an integrated bracelet design, housing Seiko's robust 6138 automatic chronograph movement with day-date functionality and column wheel mechanism. The watch is characterized by its striking black dial with gold sub-dials at 6 and 9 positions, gold-tone hands and markers, and a tachymeter scale on the inner bezel.
Though never officially associated with the tobacco brand, the JPS nickname has stuck, making this particular reference one of the most collectible models from Seiko's golden era of sports chronographs.
