History
The Seiko 6138-0040 "Bullhead" chronograph was introduced in 1969 as part of Seiko's innovative automatic chronograph line. Named for its distinctive crown and pusher placement at the top of the case (resembling a bull's horns), this unique design was created to improve ergonomics for race timekeeping.
The Bullhead featured Seiko's in-house 6138 movement with day/date display, 30-minute totalizer, and 12-hour counter in an asymmetrical 44mm cushion case. Produced for just a short period from 1969 to 1979, it was available in brown/gold and blue dial variants, becoming particularly popular among motorsport enthusiasts. Today, the 6138-0040 Bullhead is a highly sought-after collector's piece, prized for its distinctive design, historical significance, and mechanical innovation.
